Validation is an important part of any application, and in the web space it is a complicated problem to address as it often spans multiple tiers within an MVC application. Validation can occur on the client side using JavaScript via the controller and against the domain model. One thing is certain however, the domain model is the center of an application and it should always validate. To this end, Grails provides a flexible mechanism to specify constraints against your domain model. These constraints are then validated at run time. The save method performs validation automatically and will not persist the object if it doesn t validate against the specified constraints.
